One of my favorite parts of writing is learning new things to explore in my stories. While I’m waiting for feedback on a book set in a building converted from an Old West brothel, I’ve been reading The City and the Saloon by Thomas Noel and Daughters and Joy, Sisters of Misery by Anne A. Butler to search for historical inaccuracies. A historian recently recommended the books to me, as reputable sources on saloons and prostitution in the Early and Old West proved hard to find. So far, they approach their topics objectively and are brilliantly researched.
